Yunsub became interested in aging after realizing that many diseases and functional declines are closely related to the aging process. This led him to wonder whether targeting aging itself could be a more effective approach than treating age-related diseases individually. His interest deepened as he learned about epigenetic regulation and cellular reprogramming, which revealed the possibility that aging may be reversible. He is particularly interested in understanding how and why cells lose youthful function over time despite having the same genetic information, and how epigenetic reprogramming can restore cellular function while preserving cellular identity. By studying these mechanisms, he hopes to contribute to our understanding of aging and rejuvenation and ultimately help develop ways to prevent or treat age-related diseases.
